While Eureka Springs is renowned for our Dicken's-like holiday magic, there’s another seasonal celebration that deserves a spot on your calendar — Eureka Springs Mardi Gras — or as the local's call it: "Eureka Gras!"
This year, Eureka is embarking on a truly spectacular journey with our highly anticipated 2025 theme:
"Mask Up for Mardi Gras: A Venetian Carnival."
What does this mean?
Think flamboyant, rich colors, luxurious fabrics, and intricate details. Traditional Venetian masquerade masks are, of course, essential, providing the perfect air of mystery and elegance. Let your creativity shine – embellish your mask with feathers, sparkling accents, and dramatic makeup to complete your uniquely Eurekan look and style.
For inspiration, consider the grandeur of Renaissance nobles. Elegant gowns and suits, adorned with high collars, puffy sleeves, and rich textures! Any (or all) of this would be stunning.
A steampunk twist on the Venetian theme could be incredibly striking. Think gears, goggles, and repurposed materials ... all of this brings a unique blend of historic charm and futuristic flair.
The possibilities are endless! Let your imagination run wild as you craft a costume truly capturing the spirit of this 2025 Eureka Gras season, which happens to be our 20th Anniversary Season.
This vibrant and colorful time of year sprinkles in a completely different spice to the season, offering a lively blend of music, parades, and community spirit. Though traditionally associated with Louisiana, Mardi Gras has found a joyful home in the Ozarks, thanks to the creativity and energy of the Eureka Gras Krewes.
Mardi Gras, as many know, means Fat Tuesday as introduced to the world by The French, which resulted in carnival events that originated in Mobile, Alabama and spread to New Orleans, Louisiana and today still exists in many cities.
The first Mardi Gras occurrence in Eureka Springs was in 1907 with a parade and two balls. Eureka Gras was founded in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina transplants to Eureka Springs and has now grown to a 5-state regional Mardi Gras with over 14 events throughout January, February and into March.

January 11, 2025 - 2:00pm - 4:00pm - Kick off the Eureka Gras season with the party that starts it all. What sets Eureka Springs apart is how seamlessly it blends the Mardi Gras spirit with the town’s own unique character. The celebrations are infused with the creativity, humor, and inclusivity that define this community.
January 21, 2025 - 5:00pm - 7:00pm - Mask Decorating at Traveler's Inn
Eureka Springs Mardi Gras is more than just a party—it’s a testament to the town’s welcoming nature. Families, couples, and solo travelers alike are encouraged to participate, whether by attending events or simply enjoying the festive atmosphere.
February 1, 2025 - 5:00pm - 7:00pm - Taste of Mardi Gras
Restaurants and bars join in the fun by offering Cajun-inspired menus, live music, and themed cocktails throughout the season. Don’t miss the chance to try gumbo, jambalaya, or a classic King Cake while you’re in town.
February 5, 2025 - 5:00pm - 7:00pm - Umbrella Decorating
Eureka Springs Mardi Gras invites you to join us for umbrella decorating. Bring your own umbrella, or they will provide one. Express your creativity with paints, fabrics, ribbons, and more. Whether you’re an artist or just want to have fun, this interactive tradition allows you to showcase your style and become a part of the festive atmosphere. Decorated umbrellas take center stage in the lively second-line parades, creating a visually stunning spectacle. February 21, 2025 - 6:00pm - The Coronation Ball. Enjoy the grandeur of the Coronation Ball, where the new King and Queen of Mardi Gras are crowned. This black-tie event is an evening of elegance, with live music, dancing, and plenty of opportunities to mix and mingle with locals and visitors alike.
