Beads! Beads! Beads!
Welcome to Eureka Springs, where the spirit of Mardi Gras comes alive in a unique and captivating way each year just after Santa Claus makes his grand exit back to the North Pole.
Mardi Gras in Eureka is ON!
The festivities kick off at the beginning of January each year, drawing locals and visitors to experience the magic of small-town revelry. The anticipation builds as vibrant decorations, reminiscent of the iconic Mardi Gras colors – purple, green, and gold – begin to adorn the streets, inns and shopkeeper windows. The air is filled with excitement as the town prepares to let the good times roll.
What sets Eureka Springs apart is our close-knit community, where everyone becomes a part of the Mardi Gras tapestry. Locals take pride in organizing krewes and participating in the events, creating a sense of togetherness that permeates the entire celebration.
Neighborhoods come alive with 2nd line dancing block parties and parades, showcasing the creativity and passion of the participants. The community spirit is palpable, and visitors find themselves welcomed with open arms, quickly becoming a part of the town's extended family.
At the heart of Eureka Springs' Mardi Gras celebration is the Krewe of Krazo – a group of dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to organize the festivities all season long. Note: Krazo means "to cry aloud" in Greek and it is also Ozark spelled backwards (Ha! ... but of course, it is!)
This diverse mix of locals share a common goal: to create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
From designing elaborate floats to crafting intricate costumes, the Krazos transform the town into a mesmerizing carnival. Their commitment to the celebration is infectious, and their passion is evident in every detail, ensuring that Mardi Gras in Eureka Springs is an immersive and enchanting experience.
In addition to Krazo, we also have the Krewe du Kork, the Krewe of Barkus and Krewe de la Joie.
