Eureka Springs, our charming city here in Arkansas is famous for many things but today I'm going to focus on its rich culture of art, art galleries, shops, schools and studios.
To say that Eureka Springs is a colorful community is an understatement. Healing water may meander down these hills but there’s also an undercurrent of creativity running through our historic arts village driven by more than 350 working artists in all mediums.
...and during the month of May, we like to showcase art all month long with our annual Festival of the Arts.
The Eureka Springs Festival of the Arts is an annual city-wide event packed with one-of-a-kind art exhibits, demonstrations, performances, culinary arts, free music in the park, and the wildest street party thrown by artists –The White Street Walk.
May 6 (2:00pm - 5:00pm) The ArtRageous Parade
Kicking of Eureka's May Arts Season, The Artrageous Parade has been a local and regional favorite for many years. Join us in downtown Eureka Springs, Arkansas, on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, for music, performances, art, costumes, and lots of surprises in the outrageous Artrageous Parade!
May 19, 2023 (4:00pm-10:00pm) The 31st Annual White Street Studio Walk
Historic White Street is the working address of several local artists who will welcome the public into homes and studios to view their latest works. They will be joined by more than forty guest artists from the Eureka Springs area, who will show weaving, watercolors, jewelry, oils, pottery, stained glass, and much more.
Among those displaying will be 31-year show veterans: weaver, Eleanor Lux; watercolorist, Zeek Taylor; and painter/sculptor Mary Springer. The three are the walk's organizers and all by coincidence ended up living on White Street after attending the Memphis College of Art.
The event draws visitors to White Street who delight in experiencing a "hidden" Eureka Springs where they can visit with artists in their private spaces. Visitors get a sense of neighborhood in an area of town that is primarily residential.
