My Three Favorite Outdoor Meditation Spots in Eureka Springs!

Our beloved Eureka Springs, Arkansas is a beautiful and serene destination known for its natural beauty, spiritual energy, and historic landmarks. The city is home to several outdoor spaces that are ideal for meditation, offering a tranquil and peaceful environment for individuals to connect with themselves, nature, and of course, their higher self.

Let's explore some of the best places to meditate outdoors in Eureka Springs, their history, why these are my top choices for meditation.

Thorncrown Chapel

Thorncrown Chapel is one of the most popular places to meditate in Eureka Springs. The chapel is a stunning architectural masterpiece designed by E. Fay Jones and is considered one of the most significant works of American architecture in the 20th century. The chapel is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape, which makes it an ideal spot for meditation.

Meditating at Thorncrown Chapel is a unique experience because the nearly all-glass structure allows individuals to connect with the beauty of nature as the glass pulls nature into the chapel experience and therefore to the sacredness of the chapel. The peaceful and serene environment is ideal for quiet reflection and your experience here is sure to be deeply moving and most often transformative.

My top choice because: I am so moved by the fact that my life gave me the opportunity to sing at this Chapel in 2020 for their first-ever virtual service for Christmas (due to the pandemic.) Here is the link to this beautiful experience: A Light On A Hill - A Service For Christmas, 2020

Lake Leatherwood City Park

Lake Leatherwood City Park is another popular destination for meditation in Eureka Springs. The park is situated on 1,610 acres of land and offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and fishing. The park is known for its natural beauty, which includes a 85-acre lake, waterfalls, and stunning views of the Ozark Mountains.

The park's history dates back to the 1940s when the city of Eureka Springs purchased the land to create a recreational area. The park was developed over the years and has become a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike.

My top choice because: Meditating at Lake Leatherwood City Park is a great way to connect with nature and find inner peace. The park's natural beauty provides a tranquil setting for meditation, and the sounds of the waterfalls and birds can be incredibly soothing. Many people find that meditating at the park helps them to feel more grounded and connected to the earth.

Crescent Park

Crescent Park is a small park located in the heart of Eureka Springs. The park is situated on a hill overlooking the historic Crescent Hotel and offers stunning views of the city and the Ozark Mountains. The park is known for its beautiful gardens, which include a variety of flowers and plants.

The park's history dates back to the early 1900s when it was a popular destination for picnics and social gatherings. The park fell into disrepair over the years but was restored in the 1990s and has since become a popular spot for tourists and locals alike.

Meditating here is surreal. There is so much paranormal energy since this is America's Most Haunted Hotel.

My top choice because: The most immersive way to connect with the history, the paranormal and the beauty of Eureka Springs is to meditate here because the park's gardens provide a serene environment for exactly that purpose and the views of the city and mountains can be wildly inspiring. Many people find that meditating at the park helps them to feel more centered.

Since moving here in June 2018, Eureka gives me this overpowering sense of wonder and tranquility. This hidden gem nestled in the Ozark Mountains holds within its embrace a serene and magical aura, a perfect backdrop for the transformative journey of self-discovery that meditation offers.

Throughout our sojourn, we have discovered that Eureka Springs is not merely a destination for indulging in breathtaking natural beauty but also a sanctuary for the soul, where one can find solace and stillness amidst the chaos of everyday life. The town's idyllic charm, with its Victorian architecture and winding streets, seems to harmonize effortlessly with the practice of meditation, creating a haven of serenity and inner peace.

Namaste.
